Gatare is one the oldest washing stations in the country, dating back in 2003. Gatare has a long reputation having been among the first stations to process very high quality coffee for export. Located in Nyamasheke district of the Western province, the station is surrounded by hills covered by coffee trees. Gatare has competed in the CoE many times and always ended in the high winning lots. The station has the capacity to process up to 1000 tons of cherries with its recently installed 4T Pinhalense Eco pulper. The parchment is dried on raised beds for 15-22 days before dry milling. Farming coffee in this region has been part of the culture, and RTC is heavily invested in the farmers through the agronomy training, access to finance via pre harvest loans, and coffee tree rejuvination where each year 50K trees are given to the community of about 600 farmers.
